Domestic and receptive tourism (from overseas) amounted an income worth some US$ 3.3 billion for Peru during 2014, estimated the President of the Chamber of National Tourism (Canatur), Jorge Jochamowitz.
In remarks to Andina news agency, the Head of Canatur indicated domestic tourism was up around 7%, if compared to its similar period in 2013.
Grow is “thanks to the recovery reached in the second semester of 2014. The [Conference of the Parties] COP20 also helped [to achieved the amount mentioned],” he added.
Regarding the end-of-year holidays, the Chairman said the weekend, starting on December 31 to January 2, will enable a “significant growth” of national travelers visiting the main touristic attractions in the country.
According to Canatur receptive tourism could grow up to 7% next year.
