The Cusco Region Government (CRG) has projected to build a tourist center, which will be located near the Machu Picchu citadel thanks to an investment worth S/.130 million (about US$41.26 million).
Such building is aimed at articulating the entry of tourists into the Incan compound, it was reported. According to the GRC, the Foreign Trade and Tourism Ministry’s initiative has already been approved by the Cusco Region Council.
The center will be developed under the Work for Taxes scheme. Likewise, it draws the interest of the private enterprise for its corresponding execution, it was announced.
“This interpretation center will articulate the tourists entries into the Machu Picchu citadel thanks to a schedule and [access to] a complimentary service, such as a museum, cafeteria or lounge, before the visit to the Incan Archaeological Monument takes place,” the GRC official told Andina news agency.
It went on to add building such infrastructure responds to the need for new options, which lead to a better conservation of Machu Picchu citadel.
At the same time, complimentary road works are being developed with the aim of accessing Machu Picchu through different routes.
