The Peruvian State-run National Service of Natural Protected Areas (Sernanp) presented the progress and results of scientific researches conducted in recent years on the Peruvian Historical Sanctuary of Machu Picchu.
Over 200 people, among students and professionals in environmental and ecotourism-related affairs, attended this meeting held in the city of Cusco, where Sernanp specialists addressed topics related to the site’s biological diversity and researches.
It must be noted the Sanctuary forest ranger Justiniani Candia addressed his experiences in the monitoring of the Andean bear also known as the spectacled bear.
These conferences, organized by Cusco’s Regional Office of Foreign Trade and Tourism, are aimed at stimulating research development in protected areas and including the society into an efficient and participatory management of these natural places.
